Ricardo Hueso Alonso

Welcome to my Web page and thanks for visiting. I am a lecturer at the University of the Basque Country. I am part of the Planetary Atmospheres Group at the Bilbao School of Engeneers. I work in collaboration with the Aula Espazio Gela and I'm also involved in the observational work and image reductions done with the Astronomical Observatory at the School of Engeneers. This is an urban observatory devoted to teaching astronomy and astronomy popularization.

Science

My scientific work is in the field of planetary atmospheres: Giant Planets atmospheres, Venus and Titan. I'm also interested in the formation of the Solar System and other protoplanetary disks, a research line begun over my post-doc at the Observatoire de la Cote d'Azur in Nice. Previously to my current position I have enjoyed 4 years of a "Ramón y Cajal" research contract at my current institution. That was a particularly productive period of time where I could develop many of the software tools I now use in my dayly work.

Teaching

My teaching is related with general physics for engeneers and space sciences covering topics from solar system astronomy to Earth and astronomical image processing techniques.

Sience Popularization

I keep a blog about astronomy in Spanish: Astronomia para todos as a collaboration with Radio Euskadi one of the radio stations in the Basque Country.
